Job Summary: Designs, develops, documents and maintains software to support development of ZOLL products.


  • Leads self and sometimes a small team or project group
  • Analyzes and creates software requirements from product and system requirements
  • Develops, documents, and maintains high quality software designs, source code, and unit tests for product software or supporting such as tools(e.g. parsers, simulators)
  • Performs software integration activities for integrating software to software or hardware subsystems
  • Develops, documents, and executes software unit verification procedures
  • Participates in and supports the development of, and sometimes executes portions of, software verification protocols
  • Reports own progress towards performance and schedule objectives. Identifies technical risks, problems, and work arounds
  • Stays current with software engineering trends and technologies through activities such as self-study, webinars, seminars, user group meetings and conferences
  • Follows standard operating procedures and software engineering best practices
  • Mentors, guides, and supports less experienced software engineers
  • Collaborates with team members and contributes to positive team environment that creates high quality solutions


  • Knowledge and Experience with one or more programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Python, or Matlab
  • Technical depth in at least one software development specialization described below
  • Good Written and verbal communication skills
  • Positive attitude and affinity for teamwork, logic, innovation, initiative and self-sufficiency
  • Effective problem solving skills
  • Experience in a structured development environment with design controls
  • Experience with event driven object oriented software design methodologies
  • Experience with embedded software application development
  • Experience with real time operating systems (e.g., Green Hills Integrity, Mentor Graphics Nucleus, QNX, Micrium)
  • Experience with application development for non-real time applications (e.g., Windows, Linux, iOS)
  • Past medical device experience preferred
  • Experience with digital signal processing highly desired



  • BS / MS or equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical / Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering (highly preferred, focus in software development), or related engineering or science discipline
  • At least 5 years of software design and development experience on a product development team
