Based on management priorities, supervise the activities of manufacturing engineers, and manufacturing support services group. Activities include defining manufacturing and test strategies for new products, managing and implementing manufacturing standards and methods, providing vendor support, implementing Lean manufacturing principles, and providing documentation and procedures. Manage the implementation of goals for quality improvements and cost reductions.


  • 25%   Management functions, resource allocation, priority setting, reviews, schedules, budget for the manufacturing engineering department.
  • 20%   Quality and yield improvements. Investigation of root cause and implementation of corrective action.
  • 15%   Cost reduction activities and redesign for cost saving.
  • 10%   Develop manufacturing policies, procedures and metrics.
  • 10%   Change order review (ECOs, PDAs, MCOs)
  • 10%   Daily production support, including tooling and fixturing problems, training of personnel, etc.
  • 5%     Process Validation Specification and development of new manufacturing technologies and process improvement. Capital investment analysis and long term project activities.
  • 5%    Other duties as required


  • Minimum of 10 years manufacturing experience in an electro-mechanical assembly/test environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience in a technical management environment and preferable to have 2-3 years managerial experience.
  • Proven oral and written communication skills.
  • Direct experience with manufacturing and test processes (PCB assembly, PCB fabrication, Functional test, Environmental screening, injection molding, etc.).
  • Proven background in project management role.
  • Detailed knowledge of ISO-9000, TQM, JIT, SPC and LEAN Manufacturing.
  • 6 Sigma Black Belt certification desired.
  • Proven change leader
  • Experience with product and process verification and validation planning and execution
  • Experience with FDA QSR documentation requirements a plus.
  • Detailed knowledge of product structure, configuration management and documentation techniques.
  • Detailed knowledge of MRP, Production and Inventory Control management (Oracle experience preferred).
  • Proficient in PC applications (MS Office, AutoCAD, etc)


Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in a technical discipline. MS or MBA preferred.
